After a wonderful breakfast, we bungled up for our shore excursion to see the Kinderdijk Windmills in South Holland. We walked across a dyke to a network of 19 remarkably preserved, 18th century windmills and ingenious flood-management devices. Families actually live in these windmills and are required to keep them in working order.
When we came back to the ship, it was time for safety instructions.
Lunch, nautical talk, "All Things Dutch" presentation, and Dutch teatime took up our indoor afternoon!
Dinner was delectable!
Picture of the peanut butter, chocolate, caramel dessert! My mouth is watering as I write about it!
We entered Germany at 9:00 this evening and then had a German lesson! Oh, my, I should have tried to learn more from Libby!
Gute Nacht
Awesome. You should have hung out more with Ana Lina when she was here!! Lib and Jack could definitely help you out!! See if you could bring a windmill home with you!!!
ReplyDeleteYes, I forgot that Jack could too! Ask them if they can translate Aunt Barb's post for me!
DeleteThat dessert makes my mouth water as well. It looks awesome. I hope the 'nutritional 'food is just as good.
ReplyDeleteVern looks dashing in his stylish fluorescent vest but where are his shorts? I hope it gets warmer as you head south.
Can you figure this one out? : "Gute Nacht und träum' was schönes"
Sorry, Barb, got the good night part. Vern didn't know the rest either!
DeleteAnd, yes, the "nutritional" food is awesome! Melt in you mouth delicious! Keep forgetting to take pics of food. Too busy with "dinner talk"!
DeleteGood night and sweet dreams says Libby!! After looking it up of course!!
DeleteToo bad it's so chilly and rainy, but glad you are still having a great time! Hope you have warm enough clothes. It's awesome that you are seeing such amazing sights!
ReplyDeleteYes, we do have warm enough clothes. However we did buy fleece jackets on the ship. They really came in handy yesterday!
DeleteAwesome, awesome, awesome!!! Thanks for taking us along on this 'once in a lifetime' vacation! And I'm with Doug on the windmills! he! he! ❤️
